What better way to cruise beach-side towns than in an open-side tourer? These airy open vehicles were popular with tourism-driven businesses, as they provided a sense of adventure whilst simultaneously transporting the tourist masses. They could generally be hired locally, or were supplied by hotels to transport their guests at a leisurely pace.

Several variations on the theme existed, particularly through the Seventies and Eighties when such vehicles were most popular. Perhaps the most recognisable version was the Mini Moke, though several different constructors adopted whatever simple mechanicals they could access and bodied them accordingly. The most popular solution was seen to be a straightforward and economical four-cylinder motor and manual gearbox.

The better versions of these vehicles were galvanised, experience showing that early iterations often rusted quickly when undertaking beach-side duties.
