Description
1961 saw all models in the Cadillac range receive a major styling change. Gone were the heavy rounded frontal looks of the 59 & 60 cars with their fuselage style body sides. Replaced with crisp new heavily sculpted angular body sides, a standout feature of these cars is the unusual inverted lower body fins, with finely detailed grilles and body ornamentation. Beneath these exteriors were significant mechanical improvements, in the braking system, the front suspension design & steering systems. Making these cars fine handling automobiles in their time. A particular favourite amongst collectors these series 62 Coupes have a massive glass area , and are sometimes referred to as bubble tops , this roof design was shared by all 5 divisions of General Motors for 1961.The series 62 carried model designation 6237, and proved very popular with 16,005 of them built.
