History

This vehicle started as a road-registered Ford Australia company vehicle, with the factory options of 19-inch Forged Aluminium alloy wheels, MagneRide suspension and Recaro seating fitted. In 2019, the vehicle was specially prepared for Scott McLaughlin for the Superloop Adelaide 500, the first round of the 2019 Supercars season which saw Mustang make its debut as a Supercar.

McLaughlin drove this Mustang in a series of exhibition laps, alongside fellow Ford legends Marcos Ambrose, a two-time champion who drove a 2019 Mustang NASCAR, and five-times champion Dick Johnson, who drove a Mustang Supercar – the first to drive a Mustang Supercar at an official race meeting.

That weekend, McLaughlin went on to record the first victory in a Mustang Supercar, winning both races at the 2019 Adelaide 500, before a record-breaking season which saw McLaughlin set 16 pole positions, achieve 18 race victories – breaking Craig Lowndes’ all-time season record – including the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. McLaughlin’s success would help Ford claim the 2019 Manufacturers title, while his team, Shell V-Power Racing, would claim the 2019 Supercars Teams Championship. McLaughlin then achieved his third drivers’ championship in a row in 2020, giving Ford back-to-back Manufacturers crowns, Mustang its second consecutive set of titles and cementing the 27-year-old as a true legend of the sport.

The car has 12,301kms on the clock (at time of cataloguing). Prior to the Herrod Performance modifications for the Speed Comparison Test, the vehicle was used as a press/media car for Ford Australia.

The car will be sold unregistered with an Engineer's certificate provided after sale.

All proceeds of the sale will be donated to Camp Quality
