When Jaguar Cars acquired Daimler in 1960, it seized the opportunity to slip the jewel-like 2.5-litre V8 from its SP-250 sports car into the Mark 2 bodyshell along with a Daimler fluted grille and differentiating badgework. This very distinctive Daimler is the rarest of all Mark 2 variants. It is truly a joy to take the wheel of what for all the world looks like another six-cylinder Jaguar of the day and hear the fruity burble of that V8 engine: this of itself makes the 2.5 a true Daimler!
