Description
This 120cm model is hand-crafted from hard wood. The hull is hollow inside and there are thousands of brass rivets hammered on the hull that take many hundreds of hours to complete. This model is ready for display complete with stand. The Hydroplane is handmade and built according to scale of the original boat through original plans using the plank on frame construction method. The hull is built with strips of wood just as the real boat is constructed. Inside the hull, there are epoxy resins which help to keep the strips to bond close to one another and not spilt, crack or twist. There are no resin moulds used with the hull construction. To preserve the environment, only plantation woods are used such as acacia, eucalyptus similar to poplar, rubber wood and jack wood are used to build this model. All the fittings, trimmings, steering wheels, switches, gauges, gear, rudder and propellers are made from brass chromed as stainless and the windows are made from clear plexiglass.
