With an elegant, subtly sporty body by Zagato, the 2.8 litre Biturbo Spyders were produced from 1991 to 1995. From the modest-sized engine the two turbochargers and electronic fuel-injection brought forth 248bhp and explosive performance from low speed - a breathtaking six seconds or so to 100km/h. Top speed was 240km/h. The Biturbos were a new type of car from Maserati yet, in leaving behind any resemblance to the sometimes impractical supercars of the past, none of the character which made the marque famous was lost.
