Ducati released the legendary 750 F1 in 1985, essentially a replica of the Pantah-based TT racers with a real road-racer look thanks to the alloy fuel tank, remote oil cooler, two-in-one exhaust system, floating discs and mono-shock suspension. Ducati released three limited edition versions of the F1, the Montjuich, the Laguna Seca and the Santamonica, each commemorating a significant race victory. All used 40mm Dell'Orto carburettors, hotter camshafts, a special Verlicchi exhaust, 4-piston Brembo calipers with fully floating discs front and rear, and an aluminium swingarm. The final limited run F1 was the Santamonica, built to commemorate Marco Lucchinelli's victory at the circuit of the same name in Misano, Italy in 1986. Initially sold only in the Japanese market, the red/white Santamonica used tuned engine from the Laguna Seca and the wheels and brakes from the Montjuich. The 90-degree desmodromic L-twin cylinder was air cooled and developed 95 horsepower at 9000 rpm. Just 200 were made and very few were sold outside of Japan - today each and every one is a genuine collector's piece and rarely do they come on the open market.
