Ford first introduced their full-size F-Truck series back in 1948. Today the range is well known, not only for its durability, but for its incredible sales figures. The F-150 version remained the best- selling vehicle in North America for 24 consecutive years and remains the best-selling truck; a ranking it has maintained for 34 years in a row.

The first series F-Trucks, then known as the 'Bonus-Built' were offered in two-door pickup and four-door panel truck form with a range of engines spanning from a 226ci, six-cylinder 'Flathead' through to a 337ci Flathead V8. The F-1 was the baby of the range and proved most popular with farmers, being capable of carrying a half-ton load. Larger versions could carry over two-ton though these were generally used more for specialised applications, such as school buses. Four-wheel drive was optional.

The first series F-Trucks were built until 1952 and paved the way for the legendary status these trucks enjoy today.
