Founded in 1925, the Chrysler Corporation can trace its development back to the Maxwell Motor Company, which is where Walter P. Chrysler was working in the early twenties. By 1928 a large brand expansion was in place, with the introduction of the DeSoto and Plymouth divisions augmenting the purchase of the Dodge Company. 1933 was a great year for the corporation as it they finished second in the race for US car sales for the first time, edging out Ford and trailing only General Motors. In Chrysler terms 1933 saw a range of six and eight-cylinder vehicles including the 'Chrysler Six Series CO' which sat beneath the eight-cylinder CP 'Imperial' on the Chrysler ladder. It was powered by a 25bhp version of their 244ci, L-head six and came in a range of body styles with 2 or 4-door options.
