By 1920 Harley-Davidson was one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the world. Many improvements were seen then with the introduction of the legendary 74ci (1200cc) Harley V-Twin in the FD and JD models, the JD model being introduced in 1920. In 1925, the teardrop petrol tank was introduced followed by front brakes in1928, but only on certain models including the JD. These 'Seventy-Four' bikes are still revered today as the motor that brought Harley-Davidson its true 'big-banger' reputation.
