Description
The VK Chrysler range was introduced in 1975 and featured several styling updates to differentiate it from its VH and VJ ancestors. The VK range, with its new grille and light assemblies retained the classic 245 and 265ci 'Hemi' six-cylinder engines, with a mid-range 318ci V8 option. The premium motor was the big 360ci (5.9 litre) V8. The long-standing three-speed manual was still available though a four-speed floorshift was available on Hemis (auto-only with the V8 options). Inertia reel seatbelts were also introduced with the VK range. Each engine produced ample torque- essential given the size of the Valiant, which was considerably bigger than the Holden ranges of the time. Familiar trim levels were offered, from the Chrysler sedan, through Regal and Ranger sedans/wagons and finally the Charger coupes.
