The Chevrolets produced between 1955 and 1957 have earned the nickname "Tri-Five" and are held in high regard by collectors for their classic "Jet Age" styling and more importantly, the introduction of the classic small-block V8 engine that injected some serious performance to the line-up. Each year, three distinct models were offered, from the base level One-Fifty through the mid-level Two-Ten to the range topping Bel Air, named after the posh Hollywood suburb. Across these three trim levels Chevrolet offered a wide selection of body styles, from basic sedans to hardtop coupes, a convertible and even the unique Nomad sports wagon. The '55 Bel Air featured a luxuriously appointed interior, with deep pile carpeting, unique chrome moldings and wheel covers. Although the trusty Stovebolt six was still made, the new V8 offered more power whilst being lighter and soon became a favourite with racers and rodders alike, earning the 1955-1957 Chevrolets the title "The Hot Ones".
