1995 Ford Mustang GT Convertible (RHD)

Following on from the third generation Ponycar, that had survived in production from 1979 until 1993, Ford announced an all-new model for 1994 with curvaceous styling, disc brakes all round and the emphasis on performance firmly restored. The entry-level four-cylinder engine was dropped in favour of a 3.8-litre V6 with Borg-Warner five-speed manual gearbox as standard issue. For those looking to go even faster, there was the option of a 5-litre V8 and four-speed automatic transmission, along with ABS. The revised Fox platform had wider track and a longer wheelbase, resulting in markedly improved handling. The performance GT package included a 215bhp version of the V8 engine, quad shock suspension, 16.5-inch rims, sports seats, rear spoiler and fog lamps. Inside a power driver's seat and adjustable steering column made for a vastly improved driving position and dual air bags provided additional safety. The success of the 1994 model meant Ford left the recipe largely unchanged in 1995, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Mustang legend. These late model Mustangs make great daily drivers, are reliable and cheap to run. With the top down, the Mustang is the perfect modern classic convertible for summer.
