Description

This lot is no longer available

For 1937, Dodge introduced an innovative measure - rubber mounts to fully insulate the body from the chassis along with steel disc wheels, a hypoid back axle that allowed for more room in the rear and more safety features like padding on the front seat backs and recessed door handles. Other notable features included Autolite ignition, hydraulic brakes and an improved ?No Draft? ventilation system. The Series D5 was powered by an L-head six-cylinder displacing 217.8-cid, with a single Stromberg EXV-2 carburettor and 87hp available. The D5 was available in two chassis lengths - with either a 115-inch or 132-inch wheelbase - along with a diverse range of body styles, from a basic Businessman's Coupe through to a luxurious Seven Passenger Convertible Sedan. Total production of the Dodge range for the 1937 model year was 295,047 units and the D5 was sold in Australia, all export models being built in Canada.
