Developed from the Riley 9 Touring Model, the Riley Brooklands was designed with competition in mind. The Brooklands chassis was a shorter, lighter version of the 9 while the diminutive 1087cc in-line four was substantially uprated with twin carbs, racing camshaft and higher compression to produce 50bhp- an incredible specific output for the period. With an ash wood frame, the Brooklands' body was made from steel or alloy and could be specified with no doors for racing applications to aid body stiffness. The Riley Brooklands was highly successful in motorsport, winning many races at the Brooklands circuit, from which it received its name. They remained in production from late 1927 through to 1931 and are much sought-after today for the rarity and racing success.
