30th Chryslers on the Murray: Classic Restos - Series 52

By Shannons - Published on 14 April 2023

Fletch is a die-hard Mopar fan, and his love for these classic cars is well-known. In this episode, he attends the 30th annual Chryslers On The Murray event, which drew in an impressive crowd of Mopar enthusiasts and motoring lovers nationwide. This year's event saw a record-breaking attendance of 940 cars, all coming together to celebrate their love for these iconic vehicles.

The event spanned over three days, with day one dedicated to Mopar enthusiasts who want to test their vehicles on the track. Participants enjoyed timed lap sessions and "Go to Whoa" sessions, putting their cars and driving skills to the test. Around fifty owners took advantage of this unique opportunity to push their vehicles to the limit in a safe and controlled environment.

With so many Chrysler vehicles on display, Fletch had difficulty picking out his favourites. One car that stood out was Daniels CL Chrysler Valiant. Daniel started rebuilding the car in 2011, and it now features a robust 6.4-litre Retro fit Hemi engine. The engine bay is immaculate, and the interior boasts original high bucket seats. But what really caught Fletch's eye were the massive 315x35 wheels on 20" rims, a unique touch that truly made the car stand out.

One of the new additions to this year's event is "The Great Reveal", where owners who had recently completed restorations could unveil their work to the crowd. Dozens of cars, including VH, VG, VF Valiants, Chrysler Le Barons, Plymouths, and Challengers, were revealed, each a testament to the owner's hard work and dedication.

Wendy and her 1959 AP2 Chrysler Royal also caught Fletch's eye. Originally her grandfather's car, it was passed down to her father before ending up in a barn under a mountain of farm material. Wendy took on the project and brought the car back to life, finishing it in a beautiful Bermuda Blue with a striking red flash down the side.

The Top 10 Judging is the highlight of Chryslers on the Murray, with participants nervously hoping for a chance to win. Glen, a longtime event attendee, has never reached the Top 10 Judging until this year. His 1971 VH Wagon, which has undergone a complete nut and bolt restoration over four and a half years, was an impressive sight in black.

Another standout vehicle was Rodney's 1970 Challenger R/T Pistol Grip 383 Convertible, one of only two ever produced, finished in red with a black interior and roof. The car is in outstanding condition.

The Mopar fraternity is as strong as ever, as evidenced by the incredible turnout at this year's Chryslers On The Murray event. Whether you're a die-hard Mopar fan or simply a lover of classic cars, this event is not to be missed.
