TasVacations presents the Shannons Classic Rallye Tour, a unique opportunity to live the Targa experience, rather than watch from the side of the stage.
The winner’s podium has hosted plenty of legends over the last 28 years including seven-times winner Jim Richards, who this year will slow things down to join the Rallye Tour alongside other entrants such as yourself.
Mixing with Targa competitors throughout the duration of the event, the Shannons Classic Rallye entrants will lead selected stages, heading the field through the natural wonders and quaint towns of the Apple Isle.
The magnificent, nine-day Rallye combines the best of Tasmania, with a unique view of the competitive components of the event from the inside. Conversely, there are plenty of stops along the way to marvel at the state’s storied history, breathtaking scenery and award-winning food and wine.
To qualify, your car should be 30 years old, or eligible for club registration in your state of origin, highly presentable condition and capable of cruising at an easy 90km/h for the duration of the event. Both driver and navigator will need a L2 non-speed CAMS licence.
The Rallye, akin to a ‘motoring enthusiast’s guided tour’ will end as you cross the Official Finish in Hobart, with entrants treated to an exclusive Shannons VIP Finishers Marquee Party, presentation dinner and a bespoke Targa Tasmania Finishers Medallion.

DEPART MELBOURNE TO DEVONPORT
(Friday 24 April – cross Bass Strait on the Spirit of Tasmania)
DAY 1 IN TASMANIA
(Saturday 25 April – overnight Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston)
- Arrive early morning into Devonport where you will be met by your tour leaders
- Welcome breakfast at Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm
- Touring Day "Dry Run" through selected Targa Stages, which you will experience during the event
- Visit to the NEW relocated National Automobile Museum of Tasmania in the afternoon
- Official welcome dinner, rallye registration, and pre rallye briefing at Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston
DAY 2
(Sunday 26 April – overnight Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston)
- Travel to the renowned Symmons Plains raceway
- Hot Laps in Targa cars at Symmons Plains, morning tea included
- Travel to Josef Chromy Wines for a gourmet lunch
- Afternoon official Targa drivers briefing
- Vehicle scrutineering and preparation for Monday's Official Targa start
DAY 3
(Monday 27 April – overnight Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston)
- Attend the official start at Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston (your Hotel) before driving to your first official Targa Closed Road Stages
- Followed by an opportunity to view other Targa entrants vehicles
- Return to Launceston in the afternoon
DAY 4
(Tuesday 28 April – overnight Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston)
- Experience your second FULL DAY of Targa experiences touring
- Tasmania’s famous East Coast roads
- Official drivers lunch at St Helens is included
- Return to Launceston in the afternoon
DAY 5
(Wednesday 29 April – overnight Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston)
- Today you will experience the famous Cethana Targa stage (Targa’s second longest closed road stage) followed by other selected iconic
- Targa stages, including one brand new stage
- Return to Launceston in the afternoon
- A group dinner at the hotel is included for all entrants tonight
DAY 6
(Thursday 30 April – overnight The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel, Hobart)
- Tour through Northern and Central Tasmanian country roadways as you make your way to Hobart
- Arrive into Hobart and check into your accommodation at The Old
- Woolstore Apartment Hotel
- A group dinner is included for all entrants tonight
DAY 7
(Friday 01 May – overnight The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel, Hobart)
- Depart your hotel in the morning touring beautiful Southern Tasmania country roads before meeting the Targa field
- Official drivers lunch is included
- Drive the afternoon Targa stages ahead of the field
- Finish in the historic town of Richmond for afternoon tea
- Enjoy a relaxing afternoon before returning to you hotel
- Join the Targa Vehicle Expo at Princes Wharf No 1 tonightof Targa Tasmania’s
DAY 8
(Saturday 02 May – overnight The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel, Hobart)
- Drive selected morning Targa stages ahead of the field to the official
- Targa finish line
- Join the Exclusive Shannons VIP Finishers Party and podium presentation
- Your exclusive rallye presentation dinner is included tonight
DAY 9 DEVONPORT TO MELBOURNE
(Sunday 03 May – Hobart to Devonport. Cross Bass Strait on the Spirit of Tasmania)
- This morning will be free for you to relax or explore Hobart at your leisure
- Depart Hobart by midday, passing through the historic towns of Oatlands, Ross and Campbell Town before arriving into Devonport
- In the afternoon check in to the Spirit of Tasmania terminal to board the ship for the overnight crossing of Bass Strait
- All Targa entrant and stage fees
- 8 Nights twin share quality accommodation in Tasmania with full breakfast daily
- Participation in approximately 20 Targa stages, a minimum of 17 will be on closed roads
- Official Targa vehicle door panels with official entrant number
- Official metal Targa number plates 'to keep'
- Hire of Mandatory RallySafe GPS System (as required by CAMS)

PRICES
Base tour price is $3650 per person twin share plus a Rallye Registration Fee of $1300 per car. The tour is restricted to maximum numbers and all spaces are usually fully allocated. Book early to avoid disappointment.
Tour places are strictly limited and will be filled in the order registrations are received and accepted. Book early to avoid disappointment; the event is usually fully subscribed well before the day.
Tasmanian entrants your tour price is only $3030 per person and includes all of the above except Spirit of Tasmania return sea travel. If you live in Hobart or Launceston and do not require Spirit of Tasmania or accommodation in your own city please enquire about your price (vehicle registration still applies).
