Brock's 50th Anniversary - 1972 Victory: Classic Restos - Series 51

Fletch joins an exclusive trade night held in Bathurst by General Motors Australia and General Motors Special Vehicles in the week leading up to the Bathurst 1000 for 2022.

The event acknowledges the 50th Anniversary of Peter Brock's first win at Bathurst in 1972 in an XU-1 Torana and the launch of five unique stamps by Australia Post featuring Peter Brocks's five winning cars representing his nine victories at Mt Panorama.

The General Manager of Chevrolet Racing and Holden Motorsport, Chris Payne, paid tribute to Peter Brock and his winning 1972 XU-1 Torana and the new stamp series representing his magnificent racing career.

In the lead-up to Holden's final race at Bathurst, Chris also took the opportunity to thank all the team owners, drivers, and their crews. Recognising the incredible effort and passion they have shown over the years, along with the independent Holden-sponsored teams.

As part of the 50th Anniversary, the event 'Around The Block For Brock', which featured twelve XU-1 Toranas that travelled 12,000 km around Australia in just 22 days, concluded at Bathurst as part of the tribute night. Fletch catches up with several drivers who made the trip to talk about their experiences. He also speaks with Todd Martin, who organised the 'Around The Block For Brock' event.

Chevrolet Racing's new 2023 Gen 3 Camaro 5.7 litre V8 1200kg 600+ hp race car was on display in Chevrolet Racing livery. Along with Maurice Fabietti's drag car with a 521 Hemi plant, 3,500 hp - capable of 415kmph and a 5.6-sec quarter mile.

The event was stacked with Holden celebrities and 888 racing team drivers, including current 2023 Supercars Champion Shane Van Gisbergan.

Fletch mingles with guests and gets their thoughts on this milestone and the Bathurst 1000, including race legend Don Holland who competed in an XU-I against Peter Brock at Bathurst in 1972. Other celebrities include Supercars driver - Craig Lownes and Super Ute diver and finalist in the Shannons Supercar Showdown series -  Craig Dontas. 

Fletch caps off the trip to Bathurst with a ride in the Supercars Pre-Race Parade Lap around the Mount Panorama and gives his impressions of the race track, the Bathurst 1000 event and the whole emotional experience.
