1972 Holden HQ

History

A ground up restoration over 4 years as a father and son project. Body shell purchased as a fully painted roller, we then built the entire car in a small suburban 2 car garage with an aim of having it ready for formal duties. The build exceeded expectations and we have been lucky enough to feature in a few magazines.

Modifications

400CI Chev Dart block with 6-71 billet supercharger producing 650HP and 1000+Nm torque. Full manual Turbo400 with 3000 stall, 9 inch true track diff with 35 spline billet axles. The rear is mini tubbed to accommodate the 19 x 10 billet Simmons. Body work is mostly stock with a lot of time spent getting good door gaps and panels straight, the exception is the fully plated firewall and relocation of heater for that smooth engine bay. Interior is "stock" GTS but using all re-manufactured parts. Seats are HZ units rebuilt to look like HQ but with the comfort of a better seat.
