Rise Dunn Lewis Presents Shannons Insurance Classic Car Show
Two of Australia’s rock’n’roll legends RISE to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Bali Bombings.
This October, the Dunn Lewis Youth Development Foundation is holding RISE – Commemorating 20 Years Since Bali 2002, and you can help support the charity simply by entering your car in the Shannons Insurance Classic Car Show.
On 12 October 2002, a terrorist attack in Bali killed 202 people. Two of those people were Craig Dunn and Danny Lewis, and in the wake of the loss, Craig’s mother Gayle Dunn formed the Dunn Lewis Youth Development Foundation.
The registered charity runs the Dunn Lewis Centre in Ulladulla; a memorial to those who lost their lives, and a venue for youth opportunity and interaction.
The programme includes multiple events across 16 days, kicking off with a surfing festival headlined by punk royalty Bodyjar. Youth events, a fishing competition, gymnastics display, and a gala dinner hosted by Tom Burlinson, are all scheduled, among other festivities; there truly is something for everyone. The programme’s overarching aim is to remember the Bali Bombings, celebrate the achievements of Dunn Lewis Youth Development Foundation in the years ensuing years, and honour the community who banded together to achieve a dream in the wake of such tragedy.
Shannons is proud to be part of the programme, with the Shannons Insurance Classic Car Show, to be held at the Dunn Lewis Centre and surrounds on Thursday 11 October, from 12:00. The show is to go into the night, with Aussie legends Frankie J Holden and Wilbur Wilde hosting a rock’n’roll concert like no other.
Featuring hits from their band Ol’ 55, along with a cavalcade of hits from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, their musical ability and comedic edge of their hit show ‘Classics!’ promises to be the perfect end statement for such a special car show.
Tickets for classic car owners are available here, which includes attendance to the ‘Classics!’ stage show, so take the afternoon off, give your car a wipe over and bring it along; it promises not only to be a brilliant time, but will raise money for a charity that has been doing so much good in the community in the 20 years since the Bali Bombings.
