• ‘No reserve’ 1938 Rolls-Royce 25/30 Barker Saloon

• ‘No reserve’ 1951 Daimler DB18 Consort

• Rare, Royal Blue Aston Martin V8 ‘Oscar India’

Re-hang those Coronation pictures, haul up the Union Jack and hum a few bars of ‘Rule Britannia’; the Brits are putting on the Ritz at Shannons Sydney Winter Auction on August 13.

This previously-restored 1927 Rolls-Royce Twenty with period coachwork is expected to bring $70,000 - $80,000.

Nothing says 'Ritz' quite like a Rolls-Royce and the pick of the two pre-war saloons in the auction is a previously-restored 1927 Rolls-Royce Twenty with period coachwork by the Southern Motor Co. of Clapham, London, who re-bodied a number of older chassis in the 1930s.

The well-maintained and very usable Twenty was originally delivered in Manchester before making its way to Australia in the mid-1980s, with one long-term keeper from then until 2014.

During this period the car underwent considerable refurbishment before it was shipped to Kuala Lumpur in 2007 for a rally to celebrate Malaysia’s 50th anniversary of independence.

Its subsequent owner continued to improve the Rolls-Royce both mechanically and cosmetically, with invoices totalling in excess of $13,000 to ensure the car starts, runs and drives very well.

Because of its provenance, condition and usability, Shannons expect it to sell in the $70,000 - $80,000 range.

This 1938 Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP 'Barker' Saloon in generally good driveable condition is expected to sell with ‘no reserve’ in the $30,000 - $40,000 range.

For Rolls-Royce enthusiasts looking for a project, Shannons also have a 1938 Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP 'Barker' Saloon in generally good driveable condition after more than $30,000 spent on its mechanical components, but still requiring cosmetic restoration.

One of 125 examples of the 25/30 model bodied by leading coachbuilder Barker & Co, the Rolls-Royce would make an ideal candidate for a rolling restoration, with Shannons offering it with ‘no reserve’ and a guiding range of $30,000 - $40,000.

A lovely 1951 model Daimler DB18 Consort luxury saloon offered with ’no reserve’ is expected to bring $15,000 - $20,000.

Not quite as prestigious, but once seen in Royal circles is a lovely Daimler DB18 Consort luxury saloon – a fine example of the more affordable ‘compact’ Daimler models that began with the medium-sized Fifteen in 1932.

This 1951 model with factory four-door coachwork and the later 2152cc six cylinder engine, was purchased by its previous owner at a Melbourne Shannons auction in 1997 with 61,380 miles showing on its odometer, but then passed through the hands of an active Daimler Lanchester Club of Victoria member before again making its way to auction.

An older restoration, the vendor has treated the car to a comprehensive service in preparation for its registration. Also offered with ‘no reserve’, it is expected to bring $15,000 - $20,000.

This stunning and superbly restored 1978 Aston Martin V8 Oscar India’ coupe that Shannions say is the best example they have seen, is expected to sell for $230,000-$250,000.

Finally, for British sporting car enthusiasts wanting to add brawn to their ‘Britz’, Shannons have a stunning and superbly restored 1978 Aston Martin V8 Oscar India’ coupe crossing the Sydney auction block on August 13.

Originally finished in in Aztec Gold, the Aston Martin was imported into Australia in 2007 by Paul Sabine of Brooklands, with the current owner spending in excess of $200,000 on a ground-up, multi-year restoration.

Beautifully presented in Royal Blue with Magnolia leather and showing just 53,894 miles on its odometer at the time of cataloguing, this Oscar India is arguably one of the nicest Aston Martin V8s in the country, with Shannons expecting it to appeal to buyers in the $230,000 - $250,000 range.
