Shannons SpeedSeries: Race Sandown - Free Ticket Offer

By Shannons - 29 January 2024

The schedule for the opening round of the 2024 Shannons SpeedSeries season has been finalised with almost 16 hours of track time to make up next month’s Race Sandown.

As the first round of the year, the three-day event will see five categories get their official seasons underway, including the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series and the National Trans Am Series.

Joining TCR and Trans Am at the famous Sandown International Raceway will be Australian Formula Open, Australian Production Cars and Monochrome GT4 Australia, which will enjoy its first meeting as a solo category.

The Shannons Club, in conjunction with Shannons SpeedSeries is offering FREE GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS for fans interested in attending the three-day jam-packed event, including single-day and weekend passes. Use the Promo Code and link at the base of this article to secure your General Admission Tickets.

As one of Australia’s newest race categories, the GT4 specific series will start life on its own with three one-hour outings across Saturday and Sunday, giving it the most track time overall.

TCR Australia, Trans Am and Formula Open will also stick with a traditional three-race round, all of which are shorter races, while Production Cars will have four 30-minute races throughout the event.

Production Cars will have most of its races on the Saturday, the first of which will kick off the day’s track action before GT Monochrome GT4 Australia wraps up the day.

Trans Am competitors will also have more outings on Saturday with two of its three races taking place throughout the day, while TCR and Formula Open will race twice on Sunday – the latter of which will wrap the weekend.

In a major bonus for fans, there will be three opportunities to get on the grid across the weekend, with Trans Am to hold a grid walk on Saturday and both GT4 and TCR to have one each on Sunday.

The event also coincides with the 2023 Motorsport Australia National Awards Gala Dinner, presented by Shannons Insurance, which will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on the evening of Sunday 11 February.

Those who purchase a ticket for the National Awards Dinner will receive a free weekend pass to Race Sandown – adding to the value of the weekend.

Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport & Commercial Operations, Michael Smith, was excited for a big start to the 2024 Shannons SpeedSeries season.

“The opening round of the 2024 Shannons SpeedSeries promises to be an entertaining weekend filled with five thrilling categories and it’s the perfect way to get the season up and running,” Smith said.

“I think one of the highlights will be a third grid walk and the fact that fans will be able to get up close and personal with three different categories for the grid walks.

“I believe it’s a favourable schedule and I encourage fans to make their way down to Sandown in February to see some of Australia’s best racers in action.”

The first round of the 2024 Shannons SpeedSeries will be Race Sandown on 9-11 February.
