Round 2 of the Shannons SpeedSeries sets sail across Bass Strait for AWC Race Tasmania, due to be staged at Symmons Plains Raceway just outside Launceston, March 15 – 17.

Following a strong curtain-raising event for 2024 at Melbourne’s historic Sandown International Raceway in February, five categories have been confirmed for the popular annual trip to Tasmania.

The Shannons Club, in collaboration with Shannons SpeedSeries, is offering FREE GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS for motoring enthusiasts to live the action firsthand at Race Tasmania. Supercheap Auto TCR Australia, along with TRICO National Trans Am Series, will be headline acts for the event, both of which historically feature plenty of action around the short 2.41km Symmons Plains circuit.

Ben Bargwanna got season 2024 off to a slick start, taking the TCR Australia Round 1 victory as well as the series points lead following his two wins driving his HANGCHA Peugeot 308 TCR. He is an early favourite to carry speed and momentum into Round 2.

James Moffat likewise was unstoppable in Trans Am, completing a clean sweep of races in his Valvoline Mustang and will be out to continue his winning streak.

Joining the support card will be the Precision National Sports Sedan Series, which kicks off its season in Tasmania. The ACL Hyundai Race Series will see a healthy field of Excel hatchbacks battling it out for a $10,000 cash prize, the largest purse for Hyundai racing in Australia, while Sparco Tassie Tin Tops complete the bill.

All ticket carrying attendees can take part in a pair of pre-race grid walks, prior to the Trans Am race on Saturday and another before TCR action kicks off Sunday.
