Troublemakers causing trouble in the SRVMC

By Carclub - 19 June 2019

I am posting this here, because I do not believe that this will be read out in its entirety at a club meeting.

It has come to my attention that George is going to read out something regarding me at the club meeting, I have not seen this, and when requested for a copy of it by Allison, George refused to supply a copy, it is my understanding it was compiled by Daryl from information about Asperger’s he found on the internet and snippets of emails written by Allison about me, which Allison sent so many emails trying to resolve this matter. It is unknown as to which emails he’s borrowed from so we are being represented with information that we aren't entirely sure what the content is as we have been unable to review it.

With that in mind;

I have been a member of the Southern Riverina Vehicle & Machinery Club since the day it was founded. I was one of the thirty or so people that saw the flyers for a “new car club” posted up around town. I turned up as I figured it would be a great way to meet new people and share stories & experiences about vehicles etc.

Since then, I have spent thousands of hours working for the club in various aspects, such as the development and maintenance of the club’s Official Website, Facebook Page, YouTube Channel, Google+ Page, DriveTribe Profile, Shannons Club Page, as well as Photographing 34,790 Photos across 407 Albums & Filming a total of 10 hours, 19 minutes and 22 seconds Videos of club Events, and even creating and maintaining the clubs own Mobile App. I also was the editor of the Club’s magazine for over seven years, from issue No.4 (October 2012) through to Issue No.69 (February 2019). And I have generally had a pretty good time with the club and most of its members.

Most of you know that I am mentally challenged with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). A lot of you have mentioned to Darryl “I don’t know how to approach him[Daniel]” and “I don’t know how to talk to him[Daniel]”.

This leads me to believe that enough of the club already knew, or realised on some level that I am mentally challenged.

Not to mention the fact that I was Page 1 on the Shepparton News 20th March 1998 (And re-printed in the Sunday Herald Sun, Page 35, 29th, March 1998), This is Public Knowledge, and as such, I believe that I have been targeted by a specific few people that are intolerant to people with mental disability.

I will not apologise for the language that I use after I have been repeatedly provoked into an ASD meltdown.

To be forced to apologise for having a mental disorder is flat out disgusting.

I do not treat men and women any different from each other.

To treat people differently based on gender is sexist.

Allison has been called out by other members in emails for defending me in this matter. Even though Allison is my spouse, she is also my carer. And as such it is her responsibility to act in my best interests, as my carer she is able to act on my behalf, an apology was requested of me, Allison compiled multiple which were all rejected by George because Allison wrote them not me, when I am wrong Allison is the first to call me out on it, just because she helps me manage my disability does not mean she agrees with my actions, please do not confuse her carer’s duties with loyally accepting bad behaviour from one’s spouse.

It has been said that the SRVMC was founded because of troublemakers in the Sun Country Car Club. - Well, it seems that some of sun country’s “Troublemakers” have found their way over to the SRVMC.

As of the last few years, I have had to complain to the club about particular members on many occasions, yet no action was ever taken.

Let's go into some details;

Firstly, I would like to get into the severe communication issues that this club has, and how it is detrimental to the club.

Communication from specific committee members is appalling.

A Rally Committee was set up, where multiple members communicate on and work out club runs and other such events. Specific members would set up all these events and not communicate it with anyone else in the club. I as the editor of the time would get in trouble for not printing events - How could I print events if I have not been told about them!?

While Allison was the club secretary AND a part of the rally committee, she had the same issue of not being told about events by these same people. Members would call the secretary and ask about events, and all she could say it “I’m sorry, the other members of the rally committee have not given me any information on this” - This poor communication by these members is detrimental to the club.

Over the years I have tried my hardest to improve the club in every way I could. I have set up multiple ways for the club members to communicate with each other, from a club website with a Forum, to live chat on DriveTribe, then there’s facebook, Shannons Club, and many other ways to communicate with members.

NOBODY HAS USED ANY OF THEM.

The poor communication where specific members do whatever they want without informing the people it affects continues.

Let's get into some examples of how poor communication by specific members is detrimental to the club

Finley Show and Shine, 2016.

I was tasked with creating the flyer for the 2016 Finley Show and Shine, so I started designing and presented an unfinished draft copy to the committee for approval. I made a point to all people involved that this was an unfinished draft, and that not all of the information was correct. I was given the correct information (Such as entry price, date, etc) so that I could finish the flyers correctly and print them out for the club.

The next thing that I know, I’m being told off by other club members for having the wrong information in the Flyers. What flyers? I have not printed any yet for them to be handed out. But then I quickly discovered a large stack of badly copied versions of the DRAFT copy being handed out at Oaklands. That Draft copy was only given out to members of the committee, and they were all told that it was an incomplete draft.

Turns out that one particular member had taken it upon themselves to copy the draft on their home computer and start handing it out to everyone.

WHY should I be getting in trouble for other members actions?

These actions are at a detriment to the club.

(Not to mention that this particular member also created a duplicate listing for the show and shine from their personal account on the Shannons Club Website. (There was already a listing from the car club’s official Shannons Club Profile))

But that wasn’t the end of it.

Finley Show and Shine, 2017.

The EXACT SAME THING happened. By the EXACT SAME MEMBER.

(Well, actually, it was slightly different, they took the incorrect draft flyer from 2016, changed the date and printed that.)

Yet again, I was blamed for it.

HOW HARD IS IT TO UNDERSTAND “This is a draft copy, DO NOT REPRODUCE”?

Also, Yet again, they created a Duplicate listing on Shannons Club.

For the 2018 Finley Show and Shine I added the words “DRAFT - DO NOT COPY” in large letters over the entire front of the Flyer. Only that seemed to stop the specific member from doing the same thing again.

Hey, Guess what, Yet again, they created a Duplicate listing on Shannons Club.

The 2019 Finley Show and Shine.

This year I made Two different flyers. One labeled “For Print” and the other labeled “For Web”
Well, apparently that was too hard, because all of the flyers that I saw printed out were the DRAFT ones designed for Web, NOT the ones designed for Print. - I will give you one guess as to who did that?

And, speaking of guessing, Have a guess who yet again created a Duplicate listing for the event on Shannons Club.

Now, instead of flyers, lets go onto something else.

One thing that was requested of me years ago was to make DVD’s with all of the Club Videos so that members without computers could get a copy of the videos.

I created a test DVD. One copy, that was to be handed around the committee members to see if they approve or not.

Yet again, when it got to this one specific member, That was it, the disc was gone. No input was given. And As such, I wasted days creating the DVD in the first place.

Direct Abuse.

The 2019 Shepparton Show and Shine, Allison and I arrived early and I took photos of every car that was there. I pride myself on trying to take at least one photo of every car at an event. Either way, I had another job to do that afternoon so I finished up and left at around 11:30am.

At the meeting directly after that, One person, a member of the same family that has been giving me issues for years, stood up and said that he was the only person representing the club at the shepparton show and shine. Then he complained that I did not take a photo of his car. Firstly: If I was there taking Photos, He wasn’t the only person there representing the club. Secondly: His car WAS NOT THERE at the time that I was taking photos. Third, We were in Allison’s Car, which is 27 Years old, and is legally a Classic in Victoria. (As the show and shine was in victoria).
When this was pointed out to him by Allison at the meeting, his response was to abuse Allison and say that “Your car is a disgrace to the club” - This coming from the guy whos family owns the car with the least amount of straight panels out of any car in the club is laughable.

Facebook Abuse.

Both Allison and I have received multiple abusive messages posted PUBLICLY on the CAR CLUB’s FACEBOOK PAGE, yet again, by the same people.

As this was publicly viewable by the entire world, this was extremely detrimental to the club.

This got so bad that I have had to disable all comments on the clubs page, because these members were making the club look bad.

Job Theft.

Now, if deciding to print and hand out thousands of draft flyers for the sake of getting me in trouble wasn't bad enough, this particular member recently attempted to usurp my assigned jobs by rushing out some very poorly scanned copies of the newsletter. THIS PERSON SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OWN A SCANNER.

They were not sent to all the members in the club. And they were of incredibly poor quality.

Now we have reached the straw that broke the camel's back.

After years of being told off for things this other member has done, I finally hit back, Once.

I sent an ASD-meltdown fuelled email voicing my displeasure of having to put up with this members crap.

The person in question responded with a direct threat to come to my house and assault me.

I did not take that threat lightly with my reply. I told them not to threaten me, and I told them that the club does not revolve around them.

As of this point, these were private emails, and as such have no bearing on the club... until the person in question printed them out and started showing them around, yet again, another action of theirs that was detrimental to the club.

This has resulted in a push to remove me from the car club by these very same members unless I apologise to them. How pathetic.

Why should these members be allowed to abuse other members FOR YEARS? And if they are allowed to abuse other members, why can’t they be told where to go? Can you see this double standard here?

Now, You want to kick out the member that told an abusive person where to go ONCE!?

Let me read you the club constitution:

Now, Allison has requested a copy of the Constitution from George Scorgie, George refused to supply a copy.

Luckily, Darryl Culhane sent through only section 10 of the constitution, which I apparently violated:

Section 10 : Disciplining of members.

(1) Where the committee is of the opinion that a member of the club,

(b) Has persistantly and willfully acted in a manner pregudicialto the interests of the club, the committee may, by resolution,

(c) Expel the member from the club, or

(d) Suspend the member for a specified period.

First of all, both “Persistently” and“Prejudicial” are spelled wrong, but let’s not go all grammar nazi on this.

Let's start with point B. Persistently -
I told this person where to go once, after years of their abuse.
Once does not meet the criteria for “Persistently”

Now, “persistently and willfully acted in a manner prejudicial to the interests of the club” - That sounds an awful lot like the people that this entire letter is about. They have persistently over the course of many years willfully acted in a manner prejudicial to the interests of the club, by picking fights on the club’s Facebook page, refusing to communicate with other members about club events, and repeatedly making bad copies of draft event flyers with the wrong prices on them. This is at the detriment to the clubs standing with the public.

How would you feel as a member of the public, with one of these flyers that says “Entry $2” to turn up at one of these events and be told “The entry is $5, or even $10”? That hurts the club an awful lot.

I move that by section 10 of the club constitution these specific members be expelled from the club as they have persistently and willfully acted in a manner prejudicial to the interests of the club for YEARS.

Let’s not have a double standard here, one standard will do just fine.

-Daniel Fitzgerald.

Club Media Officer.
