Shannons JDM Experience 2025 Competition Terms and Conditions
PARTICIPATION
- This competition ("Competition") is conducted by Shannons Pty Limited, ABN 91 099 692 636 (“the Promoter”), of Level 23, 80 Ann Street, Brisbane, Queensland 4000, ph 13 46 46.
- All entry instructions and prize information provided by the Promoter form part of these conditions. By entering, entrants accept these conditions.
- The Competition is only open to individuals who: (i) are Australian residents aged 18 years or older at time of entry; (ii) have consented to receive marketing communications from the Promoter and Issuer and do not opt out during the Competition Period; and (ii) are not directors, management or employees, or their immediate family members of the Promoter or its related companies, its agencies, or other companies associated with, or benefiting from, the Competition ("Eligible Entrant").
A reference to “immediate family member(s)” means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or cousin. - Competition entry commences at 12.00am AEDT on 9 October 2025 and closes at 11.59pm AEDT on 16 December 2025 ("Competition Period").
ENTRY
- In these conditions:
“Competition Website” means shannons.com.au/japan2025
"New Eligible Shannons Motor Insurance” means a new Shannons Motor (Car and/or Motorbike) Insurance Policy (excluding CTP Insurance), OR a new Risk (defined below) added to an existing Shannons Motor Insurance (Car and/or Motorbike) Policy. The Issuer’s normal underwriting criteria apply. Excludes renewals.
“Risk(s)” means items covered within an insurance policy (such as vehicles insured under a motor insurance policy). The Issuer’s normal underwriting criteria apply.
“Issuer” means AAI Limited ABN 48 005 297 807 AFSL 230859. - To enter the Competition:
- The Promoter reserves the right to modify or suspend the Competition Website from time to time, at the Promoter’s discretion, without notice to any Eligible Entrant due to unforeseen circumstances out of the Promoters control i.e. website outage, security risk. The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption or delay an Eligible Entrant may experience from the Promoter modifying or suspending the Competition Website in these circumstances.
- Shannons Pty Limited ABN 91 099 692 636 is an authorised representative of AAI Limited ABN 48 005 297 807 AFSL 230859, the product issuer. Read the relevant Product Disclosure Statement before buying insurance. Go to shannons.com.au for a copy. The Target Market Determination is also available.
- Any Eligible Entrant who the Promoter automatically enters into the Competition in accordance with condition 6 who wishes to not participate in the Competition can email enquiries@shannons.com.au and request for their entry to be removed from the draw.
- Multiple entries are permitted, subject to the following: (a) only one (1) entry permitted per Eligible Shannons Motor Insurance purchased and one (1) entry permitted per new Risk insured under an existing Eligible Shannons Motor Insurance Policy; and (c) each entry must be completed in accordance with the entry requirements.
- Entries must be received by the Promoter during the Competition Period. Entries will be deemed received by the Promoter at the time that it is received by the Promoter’s information system.
- The Promoter may, with reasonable grounds, declare an entry invalid if the entry is not in accordance with these conditions or disqualify any entrant that tampers with the entry process or benefits from such tampering or otherwise acts in a manner that is unlawful, disruptive, dishonest or calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of this Competition. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. The Promoter's legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
- The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to require an entrant to verify the validity of their entry within a reasonable requested time, including but not limited to their identity, age, place of residence and eligibility, and to disqualify any entrant who does not satisfy the entry criteria in these conditions.
- If there is a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the Promoter reserves the right to determine the identity of the entrant.
a) an Eligible Entrant must during the Competition Period, purchase New Eligible Shannons Motor Insurance. If the New Eligible Shannons Motor Insurance is paid annually, or if paid by instalments these must be up to date at the end of the Competition Period (11.59pm AEDT on 16 December 2025); or
b) an Eligible Entrant who is an existing customer of the Promoter and holds a Shannons Motor (Car and/or Motorbike) Insurance Policy (excluding CTP insurance), during the Competition Period, will automatically receive one (1) entry into the draw for each new Risk insured (i.e. each new vehicle insured). Each new Risk must remain active and be fully paid at the end of the Competition Period (11.59pm AEDT on 16 December 2025). If paid annually, or by instalments, these must be up to date at the end of the Competition Period (11.59pm AEDT on 16 December 2025).
For the avoidance of doubt, any Risk that is cancelled, lapses or is removed from an insurance policy during the Competition Period will not receive an entry (or entries as the case may be) into the draw.
DRAW AND PRIZE
- The draw will take place at Anisimoff Legal, Level 3/162 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 on 17 December 2025 at 12:00pm (AEDT)
- The Promoter may draw additional reserve entries and record them in order in case an invalid entry or ineligible entrant is drawn (“Reserve Entries”).
- The first valid entry drawn will win one (1) Shannons JDM Experience in Japan for three (3) people, valued at up to AUD $92,525 (depending on date and point of departure).
Prize includes:- Three (3) x return business class airfares for three (3) people from the winner’s nearest Australian capital city to Tokyo, Japan;
- All airfare and airport taxes;
- Private return transfers from the airport to accommodation for three (3) people;
- Seven (7) x nights twin share room (or similar) 5-star accommodation in Tokyo, Japan with breakfast included;
- Private return transfers from the accommodation to the Hakone driving tour meeting point for three (3) people;
- One (1) x Ultimate Hakone guided drive for three (3) people: discover the true spirit of touge driving in the heart of Hakone. This tour will take the winner and their companions along the Hakone Skyline, Ashinoko Skyline and Hakone Turnpike, which have all been featured in popular Japanese animations such as Initial D. The guide will lead the winner and their companions to ensure safety of the roads ahead, and adjust the pace in accordance with the participant’s skills/requests and road/weather conditions. To participate in the Ultimate Hakone guided drive, the winner and their companions must have a physical valid driver's license, International Driving Permit and a valid passport. The winner and their companions must be 18 or older to participate. Ultimate Hakone guided drive experience includes:
- Three (3) x separate hire cars included (winner and their companions will get to drive separate cars). Choice of car is subject to availability;
- Basic auto insurance, tour guide fee and tax; and
- For the avoidance of doubt, fuel and tolls are excluded, and this will need to be paid locally after the Ultimate Hakone guided drive concludes. The winner will be provided with AUD$300 allowance to be used specifically towards fuel and tolls incurred during the Hakone driving experience. The allowance will be awarded in the form of an electronic funds transfer into the winner’s nominated Australian bank account in the winner’s name one (1) week prior to departure.
- One (1) x Daikoku PA car meet private tour for three (3) people:
- Cruise in style in a Celica (or similar) and meet car enthusiasts from around the world at the Daikoku PA car meet;
- Enjoy a breathtaking drive across Rainbow Bridge with stunning views of Tokyo's illuminated skyline;
- Stop and explore the world-famous A PIT Autobacs;
- Capture epic photos in front of the iconic Tokyo Tower;
- Includes pick up and drop off from Tokyo accommodation, fuel, tolls and fees;
- The tour is a ride along with an experienced driver. For the avoidance of doubt, the winner and their companions will not get to drive the vehicles and will only ride in the one vehicle. The tour only operates on Friday-Sunday evenings.
- One (1) x full day private drifting experience with professional drivers for three (3) people:
- At the start of the private drifting experience, the winner and their companions will get to enjoy a high speed intense drifting experience with a professional driver at a bigger circuit. During this element of the experience, the winner and their companions will be passengers and will not get to drive. Then the winner and their companions will travel to a different circuit to take a private drifting lesson at a drift pad. The drivers will teach the winner and their companions how to do a donut, and if they master that, they can learn how to do a figure 8.
- The available vehicles will be Miyata MX-5, Nissan 350Z, Mazda RX-8 and Nissan 180SX (or similar). There are only two (2) vehicles permitted to enter the drift lesson pad at one time, so the winner and their companions will rotate turns. The winner and their companions will also be able to drive more than one (1) vehicle available on the day. The cars and teachers will vary according to the day;
- To conclude the day, the winner and their companions will get to feel the thrill of being chased by a replica undercover police car. The winner and their companion will be passengers and will not get to drive in this part of the itinerary. The replica undercover police vehicle is a Nissan Skyline G35 in detailed police spec mode. All modifications on the car are exactly like the real undercover police car, with sirens, microphone and police lamps.
- The drift lesson will be at Minami Chiba Circuit and the drifting ride along with the experience will be at a different circuit in Chiba or Nikko. The tracks selected on the day are at the sole discretion of the tour operator and subject to track availability;
- The winner and their companions will not need an International Driving Permit to participate in this element of the prize, however, they must have a physical valid driver's license.
- Includes pick up and drop off for three (3) people from Tokyo accommodation, fuel, tolls and fees; and
- The full day private drifting experience only operates on weekdays.
- Full day (8 hours) private car hire, where the driver will take the winner and their companions to the following iconic JDM spots (this will occur during the week as TYPEONE and G.base are closed on weekends):
- TYPEONE: TYPEONE is a workshop facility of Spoon Sports and is famous for being a premier tuning shop, specialising in Honda vehicles, particularly the S2000. The winner and their companions will enjoy a self-guided tour of the 1st and 2nd floors;
- G.base: created by Keiichi Tsuchiya, this space allows car enthusiasts to experience JDM up close and enjoy the permanent exhibition of genuine JDM race cars; and
- Nissan Crossing: enjoy a self-guided tour of Nissan's flagship showroom, showcasing the brand's vision of "Intelligent Mobility" through concept cars, classic vehicles, and interactive exhibits.
- Travel insurance policy for the winner and their companions valued at up to $200 per person (the Promoter will organise the travel insurance policy on behalf of the winner and their companions and if any travel insurance policy exceeds the maximum value of $200 due to any pre-existing heath related conditions, this will be at the expense of the winner); and
- AUD $10,000 spending money (for the winner only) awarded in the form of an electronic funds transfer (“EFT”) to the winner’s nominated Australian bank account in the winner’s name one (1) week prior to departure. Winner is responsible for providing full and accurate bank details. The Promoter will not be responsible for incorrect details being provided, a banking institution rejecting an EFT payment, or any costs associated with locating any lost monies.
- If the winner does not have a valid driver’s license and/or International Driving Permit and is unable to participate in the Ultimate Hakone guided drive experience or the drifting lesson as part of the full day private drifting experience, the winner will be awarded the value of these components of the prize in the form of additional spending money, accommodation or vouchers (depending on the winner’s preferences).
PROVISIONS APPLICABLE TO PRIZE GENERALLY
- The total prize pool value is up to AUD $92,525.
- All travel is subject to availability at all times and may be dependent on select seat class with airlines, or specific room category availability with an accommodation partner, or tour operator availability. Prize must be redeemed and travel to be taken by 31st December 2026. Block out periods include all Australian School & Public Holidays along with all other special event periods. 2025 Block out dates include but are not limited to: 1 January – 5 February 2025, 14 – 25 April 2025, 9 June 2025, 7 – 18 July 2025, 29th September 2025 – 10 October 2025, 22 – 31 December 2025. 2026 Block out dates include but are not limited to: 1 January 2026 – 9 February 2026, 30 March 2026 – 27 April 2026, 8 June 2026, 4 – 19 July 2026, 26 September 2026 – 11 October 2026, 21 – 31 December 2026.
- All bookings must be made a minimum of 90 days in advance of requested departure dates. All bookings and documentation regarding the prize must be made via Free-2-Travel Holidays Pty Ltd or their agents. Redeeming the prize is conditional on acceptance of the terms and conditions of travel as detailed by Free-2-Travel Holidays Pty Ltd and the airline carriers in accordance with normal travel practices. No portion of the prize is redeemable for cash. Winner and their travel companions must be in possession of a valid passport with a minimum of 6 months validity on it prior to departure. The winner is responsible for any amendment fees issued by airlines or suppliers once the booking is confirmed and ticketed. Winner is responsible for any additional taxes and/or resort fees associated with the chosen accommodation, unless otherwise stated. Visas, valid passports, vaccinations, additional spending money, meals (other than those included), additional transfers, taxes (excluding airline and airport taxes) and any other ancillary costs, including but not limited to items of a personal nature, in-room charges, insurance and any applicable insurance excesses, not listed in the prize description above are the responsibility of the winner and his/her traveling companions as incurred. It is the winner's responsibility to organise transport to/from the airport departure/return point. The winner and their travel companions must have valid travel insurance for their period of travel, which will be awarded as part of the prize up to the value of $200 per person).
- The winner and their travel companions must depart from and return to the same departure point and travel together. The winner may be required to provide their credit card at the time of accommodation check in. Itinerary to be determined by the Promoter and Free-2-Travel in their absolute discretion. Frequent Flyer points do not form part of the prize. Prize is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the individual prize and service providers. For clarity, all travel companions must be aged 18 years or over.
- The meet and greet element of the Daikoku PA car meet private tour provides the winner and their companions with an opportunity to meet car enthusiasts from around the world. This element of the prize is not guaranteed and is subject to the goodwill of the car enthusiasts on the day. The Promoter accepts no responsibility and will not offer any alternative in the event that this element of the prize cannot be offered for any reason.
- The winner and their companions acknowledge that the private drifting lesson experience (“Activity”) is a dangerous activity that may result in injury or death, and participate at their own risk. The winner and their companions must: (a) attend, undergo and pass any appropriate training, briefings, required medical tests and other requirements of the Promoter and Activity organisers as determined by them in their absolute discretion; (b) not have any heart condition or history thereof, or other medical conditions that would make it dangerous to participate in the Activity; (c) not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol; (d) comply with all directions of the Promoter and Activity organisers at all times; and (e) wear all safety and other equipment required. The Promoter and Activity organisers, in their absolute discretion, at all times reserve the right to: (a) prevent the winner and their companion from participating in the Activity if, at any time, they reasonably believe that the winner and their companions poses a safety risk or for any other reason; and/or (b) cancel the Activity if the conditions are deemed dangerous. If the Activity is varied for any reason beyond the control of the Promoter it may not be rescheduled and no compensation will be offered.
- Subject to the unclaimed prize draw clause, if for any reason the winner does not take the prize (or any part of the prize) by the time stipulated by the Promoter, then the prize (or that part of the prize) will be forfeited.
- If the prize (or any part of a prize) is unavailable (unavailable does not mean postponed, rescheduled or unable to be taken or used by the winner and/or their companions) for any reason outside the Promoter’s control, the Promoter may, substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority. Subject to any applicable law which cannot be excluded, the Promoter accepts no other liability or responsibility for any loss incurred by a winner or any other party if a prize (or part of prize) is unavailable for any reason.
- Other than as expressly stated in these conditions, the prize is non-transferable, non-refundable, non-exchangeable, non-replaceable, and non-redeemable for another prize including cash, except at the Promoter’s discretion and subject to relevant State and Territory legislation.
- The Promoter encourages the winner and their travelling companion to enjoy any alcohol consumption in moderation. Adults are advised to consider the 'low risk drinking' guideline recommended in the National Health & Medical Research Council’s Australian Alcohol Guidelines which states: for healthy men and women, drinking no more than two (2) standard drinks on any day reduces your risk of harm from alcohol related disease or injury over a lifetime. Drinking no more than four (4) standard drinks on a single occasion reduces the risk of alcohol-related injury arising from that occasion. A full version of the National Health & Medical Research Council’s Australian Alcohol Guidelines is available at: nhmrc.gov.au/health-advice/alcohol. The winner and their travelling companion agree that the prize is subject to relevant health, safety and liquor consumption laws, including responsible service of alcohol requirements of any prize provider. The Promoter additionally encourages the winner and their travelling companion to visit the Australian Government’s information site at nhmrc.gov.au/health-advice/alcohol.
PRIZE WINNER
- The winner will be notified within 2 business days of the draw by a phone call and email. The prize notification will include instructions as to how the winner is to claim their prize. The prize will only be awarded following any winner validation and verification that the Promoter reasonably requires.
- The details of the winner (last name, first initial and postcode) will be published on the Competition Website on 19 December 2025.
- The details of the winner (last name, first initial and postcode) will also be published in The Australian online on 19 December 2025.
- A draw for the prize, if unclaimed, may take place on 19 January 2026 at the same time and place as the original draw, subject to any directions from a regulatory authority. The details of the winner (last name, first initial and postcode) will be published on the Competition Website and in The Australian online on 21 January 2026.
- The redraw prize winner will be notified within 7 days of the redraw by a phone call and email.
GENERAL
- Nothing in these terms and conditions restricts, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify any consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the States and Territories of Australia (“Non-Excludable Guarantees”). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Competition.
- If this Competition is not capable of running as planned, or is interfered with or disrupted in any way due to unforeseen circumstances out of the Promoter’s control (including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, natural disasters, acts of God, weather event, civil unrest, strikes, pandemics, government restrictions, computer bugs or viruses, tampering or technical failures), the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition, as appropriate, or invalidate any affected entries, acting reasonably and to the extent necessary to address the unforeseen circumstances and subject to the any written directions from a regulatory authority.
- Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, the Promoter assumes no responsibility for the following, except to the extent caused or contributed to by our own negligence: (i) any error, omission, interruption, or delay in the operation or transmission of any communication sent to (or by) the Promoter whether caused by problems with communication networks or lines, computer systems, software or internet service providers, congestion on any carrier network or otherwise; (ii) any theft, destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of such communications; (iii) any problem with, or technical malfunction of, any computer system or other equipment used for the conduct of the Competition; (iv) any entry claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter); (v) any variation in the prize value to that stated in the Terms and Conditions; (vi) taking of the prize; or (vii) any delay in delivery (when not directly caused by the Promoter or its supplier), or failure of safe delivery of a prize.
- If any dispute arises between an entrant and the Promoter concerning the conduct of this promotion or claiming a prize, the Promoter will, acting reasonably, consider your point of view, taking into account any facts or evidence you put forward, and to respond to it fairly within a reasonable time. All of the Promoter's decisions in relation to all aspects of this Competition are final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
- The winner accepts the prize at their own risk. Any tax liability arising as a result of accepting the prize is the responsibility of the winner. Independent financial advice should be sought.
- To the full extent permitted by law, the Promoter, its associated companies and agencies and any of their personnel and suppliers (including third party suppliers), exclude all liability for any loss (including any damage, claim, injury, cost or expense) which is suffered or incurred by any Eligible Entrant in connection with the Competition or the prize, including without limitation: (i) any indirect loss such as loss of business or other profits and (ii) any liability for personal injury or death. To the extent that such liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the minimum allowable by law.
- The Promoter may request that a winner signs and returns a deed of release to this effect as a condition of the prize being awarded. If a winner fails to sign and return such release, they may forfeit the prize.
- If requested by the Promoter and agreed by the winner, the winner will participate in reasonable promotional activities (such as publicity and photography) surrounding winning the prize, and consent to the Promoter using their name, likeness, image and/or voice (including any photograph, film and/or recording of them) in any media for an unlimited period, without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this promotion (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.
- The Promoter may communicate or advertise this Competition using social media platforms i.e. Meta/Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat ("Social Media Platform"). However, the Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, any Social Media Platform. Each entrant completely releases the Social Media Platforms from any and all liability in relation to this Competition, and acknowledges that this Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, any Social Media Platform. Eligible Entrants provide their information to the Promoter and not to any Social Media Platforms.
PRIVACY STATEMENT AND MARKETING CONSENT
- Personal information is collected from entrants (and/or their companion) by or on behalf of the Promoter to enable the Promoter and its agents to manage, administer and promote the Competition and, where applicable, publicise the winner. The personal information may also be provided to persons assisting the Promoter, including prize suppliers and deliverers, marketing agencies and IT providers, and to regulatory authorities, media outlets and related companies. The Promoter will disclose Eligible Entrants’ personal information and/or collect personal information about Eligible Entrants from persons overseas to engage in its business functions and activities and for the purposes detailed in this statement (for a list of countries, see the Promoter’s Privacy Policy). By participating in the Competition (and/or accepting the prize), Eligible Entrants consent to these uses and disclosures of their personal information.
- If an Eligible Entrant does not provide the personal information the Promoter requests, the Promoter may not be able to enter them into the Competition. All personal information is handled in accordance with these conditions, the Promoter’s Privacy Statement found at shannons.com.au/privacy and the Promoter’s Privacy Policy. Information about how to access or correct the personal information that the Promoter holds, or how to make a complaint, can be found in the Promoter’s Privacy Policy available online at shannons.com.au/privacy.
- Entry into the Competition also entitles the Promoter and any related companies that use the Shannons brand (“we”/”us”) to let the Eligible Entrant know from time to time about news, offers, products and services they might be interested in (by any medium, including telephone, email, mail, SMS or online marketing). In order to carry out direct marketing, entrants’ personal information will be collected from and disclosed to others that provide us with specialised data matching, trending or analytical services, as well as general marketing services. We, and other people who provide us with services, may combine the personal information collected from entrants or others, with the information we, or other companies in the Suncorp Group, or our service providers already hold about entrants. We may also use online targeted marketing, data and audience matching and market segmentation to improve advertising relevance. Each Eligible Entrant agrees that they must provide and/or maintain their consent to receive such marketing communications and not opt out of receiving such communications during the Competition Period.
