On 10th August 2017, Toyota filed a patent in the USA for 'see through" pillars. The patent, titled, "Apparatuses and Methods for Making an Object Appear Transparent," would reduce blind spots using mirrors to bend the image around a vehicle's pillar, doing away with the expense and technology involved in using cameras and projection screens. Also, for amusement, I've attached Harley Earl's 1956 wrapped windscreen patent and his earlier patent from 1920, along with the 1920 Cadillac it appeared on.
