I think the lack of courage to make the design as good as the car itself. Every component in the original LS400 was benchmarked against the best in the world. Sadly, the original vision for the design was tamed down by nervous Japanese management. I have a fantastic book on this called LEXUS: THE RELENTLESS PURSUIT. The pursuit in question is perfection.
