To me, convertibles usually mean from the US, and you could take your pick among pretty well anything over the 30 years from 1946 to 1976. There's nothing like being able to tool down a US Highway, Jay Leno style, Everly Brothers, Connie Francis or Ricky Nelson on the radio - what more could you want? I particularly like the 1952-54 Mercurys and Lincolns - neater than any GM or Chrysler of the same period. At Hershey Swap Meet in about 1997, I had the chance to be taken for a ride in a fully restored deep metallic red 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible, and I was smitten. Autumn in Pennsylvania is not quite LA, but it was pretty good. I'm sure our resident Pontiac enthusiast, David Burrell will recognise the 60th Anniversary of the GTO...
