Even with the correct flare spanner, the hoses refused to come off the way they should. I removed the associated pipe as well. Will have the pipes fitted with new nuts (or just replaced) along with the rubber lines. Not sure how much of that was my fault, the nuts were already rounded when I got there although they should have cracked loose. No matter now it's not the end of the world.
