Good to see you back Lingus. I always value your input. I think they may have made fridges at Dandenong too but not certain. More than ever I really think Holden needs a re-brand to General Motors with Holden (parts and service), Chevrolet - mainstream cars, sports cars and pick ups, GMC - SUVs and Cadillac - Luxury. It makes sense to me and I am sure they could drive more than 5% market share. They need to move Holden aside and use it to market spare parts etc.
Rebranding GM Holden !! ... Well, even with regard to the latest corporate logos, that's something which most remaining Holden dealerships still haven't achieved, being a change from the traditional red with white script to the new - somewhat austere - white with black script ... and, maybe the organisation should be looking to the past for future presentation inspiration (except when it comes to 'badge engineering') ... I'm inclined in the same way as 'Motown1' in that I reckon GM Holden branding should be relegated to Importer / Distribution status, and whilst featuring at dealership level, it should not be a brand attached to actual product (except perhaps as a minor "Distributed by GM Holden" badge, along the lines of the concept adopted by AMI in the 1970s). Within the next three years, I'd suggest we will see the end of product supplied from Opel / PSA ... and unless GM globally supports other RHD markets, I'm wondering what will remain in the US Buick, Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac portfolios that can be utilised in the Australian market ? ... or will GM Holden turn to GM China for branded items, and in so doing have a favour returned from a decade or so ago ? ...
