PonyRider, I think the lowered rear end appearance is a bit of an illusion caused by the difference in heights between the front and rear fenders and also be that the clay models might not be exactly level. It is hard to tell as the original images are not razor sharp and have lots of shadows. What impresses me about the 1965 Chevrolets is how different it looked compared to its more expensive Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick counterparts, yet it they all shared roofs, cowls, windscreen etc with each other. Mitchell and the GM design team sure excelled themselves that year. The Olds and Pontiac coupes pictured here have the same roof as the Chevy, but you would not mistake one for the other. That's what I call badge engineering excellence!
