Another interesting Bellett connection is that of the Isuzu 117 Coupe, from which the rare Bellett GTR sourced its DOHC 1.6-litre engine. Released in 1968, this handsome coupe was one of the first Japanese cars with distinctive Italian flair evident in its styling - in this case the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro. The 177 Coupe had a couple of subtle facelifts during more than a year in production, replaced in 1981 by the Piazza which was also styled by Giugiaro. Squint and there's a hint of his Iso Grifo in that four-headlight front.
