Our neighbours' car was definitely a Hansa 1100 Kombi or Station Wagon. It's listed in the May 1961 Wheels magazine under Borgward and the price was £1245. It was traded for an FB Holden Special Wagon at £1263, which makes you wonder what sort of a trade-in they got. Probably not much, but the credit squeeze at the time did strange things to new-car and used car values. From memory they bought it just before the EK was announced. Goliath did well in the economy runs and as SageAdvice says, the 'Golly' was slightly redesigned with a bigger screen to produce the Hansa. 'Discriminating' Americans called it a Goliath Hansa. Probably the only car from the Borgward empire assembled here would have been the Lloyd Hartnett. Originally called the Lloyd 600, it became the Lloyd Alexander and the supplemented with the Lloyd Arabella in about 1960.
