Thanks, PonyRider. I think the tail-down stance of the models is due to the way the support jacks under them ( which weigh about 2 tonnes) have not been levelled at the time when the photos were taken. I've also seen the tail-down on road cars and never understood what it added to the car's appearance. That said, on the speedway, Newcastle driver Bernie Whalen set up his Mustang (in 1972) with tail-down stance.
