The annual Isle of Man meeting puts Targa Tasmania in perspective. According to the BBC, hundreds of riders have lost their lives in the TT since it moved to the Mountain Course in 1911 (266 in total, 155 in TT alone) with the 2022 event equalling the previous highest rider death toll set in 1970. Yet they keep coming back year after year. So, why does the TT - unquestionably the most dangerous motor racing event on the planet - continue, when events like Targa Tasmania are cancelled?
