I can't think of a time when unique and eye-catching tail-light design was more important than the space-age US era, which peaked in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Clearly, the trend was to make cars look like they were propelled by rockets - and the big three went to extraordinary lengths to out-do each other in this regard! An amazing era in automotive design that will never be repeated.
