As I have mentioned before, I have owned three of them many moons ago and I think they saved my butt several time when cornering at unsafe speeds. Some front end parts were used on Lotus, and the Herald had a Chassis. A few little niceties like a reserve fuel tank and forward tilt bonnet were appreciated. My family owned eight of them at one time, until Dad bought a Dolomite Sprint and a TR4. I agree with Hasbeen that more power would have been good. The 12/50 model I owned had disc front brakes, a shorter wheelbase than previous models and went quite well with the 1200 cc donk and twin carbs. The "removable roof" (four bolts) was a bit of fun too, and felt more like a sports car. Four slanted headlights looked the same as Vitesse. What I would have really liked more was the real Vitesse, a great Power-to-Weight compared to the small four-pot in the Herald. I went for the Triumph 2000 six-pot instead.
