Hi mambo111, as you can see from the picture, the axles pivot straight from the diff centre. I have had the huge diff mounting rubber replaced, the rear rubber tail-shaft coupling replaced and had the engine and gearbox mounts replaced. At least the drive line is now in a straight line. If the axles, which are somewhat like cv axles, have a problem they will start to go clack clack just like a front wheel drive car when you turn a corner. No such sound and they check out fine. madmuz, the vibration, not really a sound at all but something felt through the bum and feet, starts just over 65 klms/hr and doesn't get much worse as the speed increases. It certainly doesn't feel terminal or damaging, more annoying. One possibility the forums talk of is the pinion and output bearings of the diff. But I ask the question; if they are suspect then wouldn't they be be a problem at all speeds? I will just go to my new found Mercedes friend and do two things; 1/. see if he has a couple of spare wheels and tyres to run a check and 2/. put it up on the two post hoist and put it in gear to see if he can detect what is happening at the indicated speeds. Although, with the negative camber that comes in when the wheels are off the ground like that it may be affected and reduced. I'll have to suck it and see.
