G’day GT1971, I can relate totally to the story behind the restoration of your Celica. I undertook a restoration to the same exacting standards. The car, a rare export RHD Australian delivery ‘62 Chevrolet Impala Sport Sedan. A very different car to your Celica, but like your Celica, my ‘62 Impala is a pillarless hardtop (lacks a ‘B’ pillar). Serious restoration demands continual motivation, years of research, expense and acceptance of a degree of frustration before your rewarded with a ‘brand new car’. Often think the the term ‘barn find’ is often over used. Equally not restoring a car because a small section of the body has some original factory paint is more an excuse to not taking on the challenge of a restoration. I am particularly pleased that you did so well at Motorclassica, as its an event that tends to favour European brands over Japanese or US brands. Well done!
