Nothing as exotic as T-Birds, Camaro, or Firebirds, DB! My first foray in 1971 was into France in a fully laden 1959 Ford Anglia 100E. Roof rack with full camping gear for three people - what could go wrong? Nothing actually, in 13,000 miles, as we battled everything from the exotic to the mundane, and unlike your Scottish police, the German Polizei made the autobahns verboten as we were too slow. With a car like a 100E, you need a passenger to tell you when to overtake. So, I had driven plenty of left-hand drive cars here and in England, the first being an ex-army DUKW when I was a kid. The first time I drove in the US, a rental Buick Century, I found it easier than expected. Your brain apparently adopts a mirror image. My mate's '55 Cadillac in Texas is the biggest car I think I have ever driven, bar none, and it was a real handful.
