I too loved Motor Shows - the first I went to was in 1957 to the Melbourne Show. I remember being blown away by the cut-away chassis of a Humber Super Snipe with lots of moving parts. Later on I was helping set up displays at both Melbourne and then Sydney, and working the Sydney ones most days and nights. Same again, the excitement of going to Press Day in London from 1970 to 1973 - ladies without very much on on some of the sports car displays. The Brisbane Shows were very much Mum and Dad displays in the Ekka Grounds - they lost it when they moved to the Convention Centre. These programs are great keep-sakes - the dealer ads are just reminders of an industry largely gone.
