It always surprises me that the Czechoslovakian marque Tatra is usually overlooked in any discussions about great marques of the 1930s. It was arguably the first manufacturer to create a commercially successful automobile that embraced aerodynamics as the major influence in its design. This extraordinary series of streamlined models (Tatra 77/Tatra 87/Tatra 97), born in the 1930s under chief engineer Hans Ledwinka, is renowned for cutting-edge design that was way ahead of its time.
