I think the 186 was a sweet spot in the red motors. Over-square? PonyRider, I have two sets of workshop manuals; the genuine Holden and third party items. It is a good thing as sometimes one is ambiguous or skips a vital part. Even so, I have got it wrong on occasions just like when assembling those flat pack items. What scares me is not knowing what else I have done wrong without yet realising it. Today I finally painted the engine. The red paint was not as dark as I thought that it would be but I am OK with that. The pulley still needs painting, I will go for black, the ancillaries attached and the new rocker cover fitted. I am happy how it turned out although it is no show car. I left the 202 stamp on the passenger side in the raw state but clear coated, as with the timing gear cover. Other stamps on the block and head were treated the same.
