Heads and conrods delivered to a workshop in Tamworth. I got lazy when they mentioned they'd like to have the valves when they are replacing the damaged valve guides and just asked them to do whatever is required and assemble the heads. They have much better facilities than me to get the valves seated and I'm running out of time to get it done. One of the last technical problems I had was that the good camshaft from the bad engine didn't seem to fit the replacement block. In my pile of parts there were camshaft bearings as I though they just didn't feel right (it's the vibe of it rather than anything technical). The nice ones I left alone and just replaced a couple that I felt were binding. I know that sounds a bit dodgy, but I'd rather leave good bearings in there as there is a non-zero chance of doing something bad to the block trying to get bearings out. Camshaft is now smooooooooth as butter. The main problem was #2 which for some reason had been deformed, possibly when I had to pound the original rusted camshaft out with a slide hammer. Regardless, it's like new and the good camshaft thankfully wasn't bent and the block didn't need the expensive line-bore I thought it might. Bullet dodged.
