They were sold here, in few numbers and were an up-dated version of the SM 1500. The update, if you could call it that, consisted of an upright traditional grille and fibreglass bonnet topped by a horse's head mascot. The Hunter on the cover of Wheels was taken at the Berowra Ferry, and they were available through Dominion Motors in Sydney, Overland Ltd in Brisbane, Devon Motors in Melbourne and Wentworth Motors in Perth. They came with optional twin carbs and floor shift. A stripped version was also offered, but the twin cam Hunter 75 never saw the light of day. The Rootes Group took over the ailing Singer Motors in 1956. The unloved example here was in Christchurch, and it is probable that the Kiwis took the bulk of the Singer's export market.
