A 'special vehicle' favourite of mine is the VL Commodore SS Group A SV or 'Walkinshaw' as it's commonly called. I thought these things were ugly-as when released in 1988 but it's amazing how a thumping Aussie-V8-toppling-the-turbos victory at Bathurst in 1990 changed my perceptions. A genuine Group A homologation special, characterised by the first fuel-injected Holden V8 and no-compromise competition-bred bodywork that prioritised wind-tunnel efficiency over visual appeal. I think they look great now. So purposeful - and a Bathurst winner!
