Being from elsewhere had its advantages overseas. John Sprinzel set up his business in Lancaster Mews, just off Bayswater road in London. Parking was very restricted, so customers' and new cars were stored in a big garage in what used to be stables. When things became busy, there were cars strewn everywhere. One day, a Minibus full of parking wardens descended and were starting to book cars, most of which weren't registered. I was asking our staff to help out when the chief wardeness yelled at me "Are you an Aussie?" to which I answered in the affirmative. "I spent the best bloody three years of my life in Sydney - come on girls, back in the bus; we'll find someone else to hassle". John Sprinzel looked at me and said "I don't what I would do without you Antipodeans".
