Love the 250F, the Alfa & the pre war Mercedes. oil001, I too love the D type, real road racing, but many race cars up to the 70s were driven to the track. The original Holden Dealers Team in 1968 drove the cars to Bathurst in a convoy of 6 cars. After scrutineering, the heads were put back on, & a team of GM people from Lang Lang drove the cars back to Melbourne. For me however it has to be the 1967 BT23 Brabham Repco. This was the last pure racing car. No wings, no synthetic tricks, no electrickery, just a simple minimal car, as light as possible. One of the last proper racing cars you could run from your home garage, with some enthusiastic armature pit crew& still win major races. Race one of these around Bathurst, & the rest of your life is a bit of an anticlimax. This is the right hander after the cutting, at about 9 tenths & 120 MPH.
