There are parts of the BMC Farina that I think look better than the 404 including the front and rear wheel arches and the neater tail-light treatment on some of their models. I agree that the 404 is cleaner without the fussy rear door crease. I guess much of it is because of the 404's excellent reputation and association rather than the A60 which was a bit more down-market and seen as stodgy as it progressed through the 1960s, even though the 404 outlasted it until 1974. The treatment of the wagons though was totally different, with the BMC well regarded, even if the 404 was more practical. The Fiat 2300 wagon was the neatest of the three of them
