It should be remembered that the 48-Series Holdens were popular with competitors in the famous Redex Trials of the 1950s, as they were affordable, rugged and reliable. Although ‘Australia’s Own Car’ didn’t win a Redex, they did perform admirably in these famous endurance events with Lex Davison finishing fourth in 1953 and ‘Duck’ Anderson claiming third place the following year.
