It should be remembered that the 48-Series Holdens were popular with competitors in the famous Redex Trials of the 1950s, as they were affordable, rugged and reliable. Although ‘Australia’s Own Car’ didn’t win a Redex, they did perform admirably in these famous endurance events with Lex Davison finishing fourth in 1953 and ‘Duck’ Anderson claiming third place the following year. Shown below is one of many FJ Holdens in the 1954 Trial easing its way through a creek crossing in outback Queensland.
